Millbrook VETs shift over 35 sacks of rubbish
The Millbrook VETs were out in force yesterday morning with 11 volunteers working
around the village at Hounster Hill, The Pipes, Dodbrook, New Street, Bennett Lane, Blindwell Hill and the Quay.
They contributed about 27 hours to the maintenance of the village and filled over thirty five black bin bags with dead leaves, silt and other rubbish.
This has made a big difference to the appearance of the village and will also help alleviate flooding.
We even had a friendly robin helping although he was a bit camera shy!
The next VETs clean up will be Wednesday 10th February. We hope to see you there.
Craft Fair and Coffee Morning
Millbrook & District Arts & Crafts club will be holding their monthly Craft Fair and Coffee Morning on Saturday 30th January. It will be held in the main hall of Millbrook Village Hall from 10am to 12 noon.
Sunday 3rd January 2016
The Parish council were informed this morning of torrents of water
cascading down Hounster Hill and the top of West Street. We made the relevant authorities aware and then swung into action.
7 people, a mixture of Parish Councillors and residents collected spades, brushes and other equipment and in the pouring rain unblocked some drains and cleared many bags of debris off the streets and gutters. We also put warning cones around a raised manhole cover.
We will continue to monitor the situation but ask if you see a drain getting blocked to move the debris to allow the water to flow safely away.

Christmas Tree Festivities
Three of the VETs went along to the All Saints Church this afternoon and decorated a tree for the Annual Christmas Tree Festival.
The theme is all about the new website but there is also a hint of Get Millbrook Buzzing.
